The past few years have been tough for college students, especially with classes going online because of lockdowns. 4 out of 5 college students consume alcohol to some degree. Half of those students consume an excessive amount of alcohol in a short period of time which is defined as binge drinking. Heavy drinking can increase the chances of injury, becoming a victim of sexual assault, developing health issues, performing poorly in classes, engaging in criminal activity and developing Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD).
13% of all students experience sexual assault with about half of these assaults involving alcohol consumption by the perpetrator, the victim, or both. Communicating the importance of assault awareness and the related alcohol safety to your students in a thought provoking, meaningful and memorable way is key in the effectiveness of the message.
For 52 years, we have been reserving Earth Day as a day of awareness, education and action towards caring for our home that we call Earth.
