We all want students to make the most of their time on campus. But where college used to be about gaining new experiences and encountering new perspectives, today many students are perfectly happy to sit in their dorms, stay in their bubble, and avoid human contact unless absolutely necessary.

In doing so, students today are missing out on the single best thing college has to offer: other people. And yet the truth is, all of us are stronger than any of us. That’s why for students to get the most out of their college experience, they need to leave their dorms, engage in unpredictable conversations, and learn to connect deeply with others.

As a child, Brian Miller suffered from debilitating social anxiety. He was bullied and friendless until he discovered magic tricks, and through learning the art of magic learned the power of connecting with others. Today, he is on a mission to help students build connected cultures, because everyone deserves to feel heard, understood, and valued.
