STEPANIAN BIOGRAPHY:

Completing two successful showcases at the NACA Northeast Conference and the NACA Mid-Atlantic Festival, sold-out shows in Boston soon followed as Stepanian burst onto the club and college scene in early 2005. As the industry’s eyes were opened to the talent and potential of Stepanian, they earned slots on bills alongside national acts such as Howie Day, Rusted Root, Maroon5, and Jason Mraz.

Taking advantage of the frenzy of attention that the band had garnered, in February 2005 Stepanian put the finishing touches on their second release, Autumn She Leaves. A musically diverse record of crafty pop, intelligent lyrics, and unsurpassed musicianship with a unique instrumentation fueled the fire of the band's burgeoning fan base. Produced and engineered by Dave Chalfant (The Neilds, Erin McKeown), the record is featured on Awarestore.com's Earsnacks Vol. 6 compilation. The lyrically brilliant “Smoke” features guest vocals by Everfine recording artist Stephen Kellogg.

The fall of 2006 saw the release of “Wait Out The Rain” on which Stepanian again collaborated with Chalfant. With this release, the band took not a next step, but a leap both musically and lyrically. The five-song EP showcases Stepanian’s unique song writing and their ability to write the kind of pop songs that are both catchy, and musically brilliant. On “Straight Up” and “Everything” the listener is hooked from the first chord. “Beautiful Disguise” features a chorus you want to listen to over and over.

Stepanian's recent success comes from their humble, but impressive, beginnings. In 2003 the band recorded their debut EP, For Lack of Better Words, at Dragonfly Studios (Dave Matthews Band, OAR). The album, produced by Chris Keup (Jason Mraz, Rachael Yamagata) and Stewart Myers (Agents of Good Roots), features one of the band's signature tunes in "Call Me When You're Famous". Though only their first release, ABC Family also took notice and used the track “These Days” for a new sitcom pilot.

Today, Stepanian maintains a busy performance schedule while constantly writing and refining new material. Following a highly successful residency in April 2007 at the Paradise in Boston, MA the band turned heads, and ears, at the 40th annual Summerfest in Milwaukee, WI. The response from the crowd was so positive that they were asked by festival organizers to play a second set. This hard working, innovative band is poised to take the next step in bringing their already successful career to the next level.
